His
Excellency Dr. Ahmada El Badaoui Mohamed, the Extraordinary Ambassador
and Plenipotentiary of the Union of Comoros in the United Republic of
Tanzania paid an official visit to the State University of Zanzibar
(SUZA) on Tuesday 6th October, 2015.
While
here, H.E Dr. El Badaoui discussed with his host, Prof. Idris Ahmada
Rai, the SUZA Vice Chancellor on various issues aiming at intensifying
cooperation between Zanzibar and the Comoros. He said that Comoros and
Zanzibar islands share many similar traditions which have existed for
many years and need to be promoted for the mutual benefit of both sides.

He
added that his nation intends to send a number of students to pursue
their studies here in Zanzibar in different fields including health
sciences, education, etc in addition to exchanging academic programmes
with SUZA and the higher learning institutions of the Comoros.
Prof.
Rai informed the Ambassador that so far there is a draft of memorandum
of understanding (MoU) on the table between the two sides which is under
process and that on its completion it will put clear all areas of
cooperation including development of joint institute for teaching
Kiswahili and English. “This MoU would be the road map to implement the
agreements under it”, he said.
